Meet the 2026 Study Abroad Ambassadors

Welcome to the Fall 2026 Semester!

Returned Study Abroad Students (also known as Study abroad alumni) can volunteer to help the Office of Global Engagement to promote international education and the benefits of immersing oneself in another culture through experiences overseas.

Our Study Abroad Ambassadors are crucial for Chatham to get the word out about opportunities abroad and they will be taking part in a variety of activities during the academic year.

Meet our 2026 Study Abroad Ambassadors!

Sarah: Choosing to study abroad was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I could not recommend it enough, the people you meet the places you see and the self-discovery that comes from studying abroad you cannot achieve anywhere else. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is worth it, it teaches you more about yourself and it shows you how much there is to experience in the life we have. Giving back is something that has always been important to me so any trip that you can help others and be a light in someone’s life is always worth the trip! My advice - GO FOR IT! You will never regret it!

Hannah: This photo is of me in front of the famous blue dome churches in Santorini! Santorini was my favorite part of my trip to Greece. My trip to Crete and Santorini with Chatham University has been one of the greatest opportunities of my life. While I gained valuable research and professional skills, I believe my greatest growth came from experiencing a culture different from my own. The trip opened my eyes to the world beyond Pittsburgh and gave me a greater appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life.

Hannah, she/her/hers, studied in Crete and Santorini (Greece), Exercise Science major, graduating Spring 2027

Olivia: During my time abroad in Ireland I completed a community engagement program where I was able to volunteer and support individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. I had such a great time and made so many fulfilling connections while also gaining real world professional knowledge. Overall, I made so many irreplaceable memories and would recommend this experience to anyone!

Olivia, she/her, I studied in Ireland, my major is human biology, and my graduation year is 2029.

Saffy: Studying in France allowed me to get really involved in my educational process. I got out of the classroom a lot and had some amazing learning experiences, from using public transportation to climbing mountains. I was able to tie together my language studies with my sustainability major in a unique way.

Saffy Meli (she/her), studied in Pau, France, B.S. sustainability with minors in French and food studies, as well as a modern language certificate. Class of 2029.

Sophia: One of my favorite memories from this trip abroad was visiting Santorini, Greece, because it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. This experience reminded me of the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone, visiting new places, and experiencing new cultures. I had the opportunity to speak with some locals, and I appreciated their relaxed, present-minded mentality. Rather than constantly being on the go and worrying about what comes next, they embraced the present moment. This experience reminded me to slow down and appreciate where I am and the people I am with.

Sophia Gonofsky (she/her), Crete and Santorini, Greece, PreK-4 and Special Education, graduating in 2027

Adela: My study abroad experience in Greece was very memorable for me. With a mixture of academic projects and exploring different parts of Greece such as Santorini, Margarites, and Heraklion, this study abroad trip made me feel more confident, independent, and cultured as a whole. I am so fortunate to have experienced this trip not only with my classmates, but also with three of my best friends, and it is a trip I will never forget.
